2015 Brunello di Montalcino Vintage by Jesper Kjaersgaard

2015 Brunello di Montalcino Vintage by Jesper Kjaersgaard

Langton’s Head of International Buying, Jesper Kjaersgaard took a buying trip to Tuscany (hard life) and the centre of the Sangiovese word in the town of Montalcino, the home of Brunello di Montalcino. There he tasted wines from what we now know to be the epic 2015 vintage. Explore Langton’s portfolio of wines from Brunello di Montalcino 2015.

Jesper Kjaersgaard in Brunello di Montalcino

There is no doubt that as wine lovers, we have been blessed with some recent great vintages from all over the classic regions. 2015 was an exceptional year in some of the most classic regions of the world. We saw beautiful pure and dense wines from Burgundy, Bordeaux, Barolo and Brunello and these are wines that any wine lover should fill their cellar with.

Some of the most awaited releases from the 2015 vintage are the undoubtedly great Brunello di Montalcino. Here at Langton’s, we are very excited to be bringing you some of the best Brunello’s on the market, some you will know and others are new discoveries that I picked up on my recent trip to the region in November.

The 2015 Vintage is the best since 2010. Many of the wines far outperformed their five-year-old siblings with amazing depth, fruit, poise and length. What really struck me was the balance in the wines that their producers managed to achieve. As with Barolo, there are two distinctly different styles. There's the modern, fruit and power-driven style and then there's the traditionalist more elegant and refined style–Burgundian if you like. Both are delicious in their own right. But thinking about the style of wines you generally buy and adjust your Brunello buying to fit. During my trip, I visited more than ten producers and the high quality was evident at every stop.

We will begin our Brunello campaign with the release of the magical Casanova di Neri and over the next coming months, as the releases keep coming to our shore, we will introduce you to more of these magical wines.

One of the wineries that I am very happy to introduce to you is the Langton’s exclusive, Capanna (coming soon). Capanna is one of the founding fathers of the appellation and makes a very traditional, elegant style of Brunello. We have a Capanna Dinner scheduled in July and this you do not want to miss.

To get access to these wines and events, make sure you register your interest so we can keep you informed and make sure that you do not miss out.
