Impeccably Curated Single Vendor Auction

Impeccably Curated Single Vendor Auction

Here is your rare opportunity to secure bottles from a collection of wine that was curated by one of Sydney's top wine retailers. The single vendor behind this cellar has been collecting, buying and selling fine wine for over 45 years and is, for the first time, opening his private collection to the public.  Langton's customers get the first look.

This vendor's love affair with wine began in the early 1970s and soon transformed into a successful brick and mortar business that specialized in corporate sales. His secret to collecting has always been focusing on excellent vintages from top names, as this selection attests.

Asked about his most memorable wine, the unequivocal response was the famed "Chateau Haut Brion 1959 - by far the most stunning wine I have tasted" ... Thankfully, you too can taste this special wine with 3 lots included in this very auction.

Other highlights include:

  • A stunning range of rare, collectable DRC including 1978 Romanée-Conti and 1985 La Tâche
  • The full array of Bordeaux 1st Growths from vintages including 1929, 1959, 1982 and more, including the dual 'perfect', multi 100-point winning Chateau La Mission-Haut Brion and Haut Brion wines from 1989
  • The one and only Chateau Petrus from 1976, 1978 and 1989
  • The world's top sweet wine, Yquem in full and half bottles
  • Penfolds Grange spanning 25 years, marking landmark vintages along the way
  • Grandes Marques Champagne, Montrachet, Port and more!

Each of these bottles has been meticulously cared for and stored in custom wine fridges for the life of each wine. The passion for and the devotion to this collection has been second to none and it's our pleasure to be bringing them to our customers.

Impeccably Curated Single Vendor

A collection unrivalled - from a single vendor with great taste! Will not disappoint...

Andrew Caillard MW said of this collection:
‘This immaculate wine collection has been stored with fastidious attention to detail over many years. I have been a friend of this private collector for over three decades. His impeccable taste and interest in fine wine is representative of a particular time in Sydney’s wine circles where we shared experiences, elevated our knowledge and promoted a life-long enthusiasm for the cause and romance of fine wine. The sale of this beautifully cellared collection highlights further a changing of the guard and the end of an era. We have already seen a massive depletion of milestone Australian vintages in the secondary market and these type of collections hinged on the very best of European classics are now exceedingly rare. After a lifetime of collecting, I know this avid wine enthusiast will be pleased to see these exquisite vintages enjoyed by fellow wine lovers.’
