Langton’s Teen Rescue Foundation Auction
This month, we at Langton’s are proud to partner with Champagne expert (and enthusiast) Tyson Stelzer in launching an auction in support of the Teen Rescue Foundation. 100% of proceeds drawn from over 400 impressive auction lots will go towards the Foundation’s efforts to end teen alcohol abuse in Australia. It’s no secret that, like Tyson Stelzer, we have a passion for fine wine. Working together, we want to foster a culture that values responsible and safe enjoyment of alcohol. That’s where the Teen Rescue Foundation comes in.
Since its establishment, the Teen Rescue Foundation has been on the front line when it comes to discouraging and reducing damaging alcohol use amongst teens. Every week, one young Australian between the ages of 14 to 17 dies due to alcohol abuse. In the past two decades, alcohol consumption at dangerous levels has doubled amongst 12 to 17-year-olds.
It’s not all bad news, though. Research shows that, in recent years, the statistics are improving, demonstrating that initiatives like the Teen Rescue Foundation are working. With early advice and intervention, it is hoped that young generations can be the movers and shakers that revolutionise ingrained and unsafe drinking behaviours of our culture. ‘Working in the wine business and having a 20-year-old son and two teenage girls, the work of the Teen Rescue Foundation is very personal to me,’ says Langton’s Head of Auctions Tamara Grischy. ‘Wine can be enjoyable if consumed responsibly. As a family, we have actively educated our children about healthy habits when it comes to alcohol. It’s an important and ongoing journey as our children grow. We are so pleased to be able to support the Teen Rescue Foundation, as their work is critical in educating teenagers about the harmful effects of alcohol.’
So, how can you help? An appreciation of fine wine wouldn’t go astray! From the 5th to the 22nd March, we will be auctioning over 400 bottles of rare, remarkable, and large format bottles, with 100% of proceeds going directly to the Teen Rescue Foundation’s efforts to abolish alcohol abuse amongst our teens. With most bottles donated directly from the cellars of notable producers, there’s plenty of bottles to delight collectors.
Want a taste? A Jeroboam of 2009 Torbreck RunRig is on offer for the bigger-is-better Barossa crowd. Bid on a magnum of 2009 Henschke Mount Edelstone. It wouldn’t be a Tyson Stelzer-supported event without a touch of bubbly, and a trio of 2012 Franck Bonville Pur Terroir Cuvées is just the ticket. For lovers of a luxury getaway, take your chances on three-night stay at Langmeil Winery in the heart of the Barossa (tours, tasting, and indulgence await!).
Get behind the worthwhile endeavours of the Teen Rescue Foundation, and add some wonderful wines to your collection while you’re at it!
