Week in Review 30-11-18

This week we were bowled over by the rush through the museum doors. We opened doors on 20 years of Barossa Valley classics on Thursday and Friday. Many of the products were in single bottles and at most a handful of cases.

We’ve also looked at the tipples our customers enjoy around Christmas and throughout the party season. Sweet and Sparkling from great Champenoise to golden Bordeaux to modern traditional Sparking Australian Shiraz. We also picked the latest winner in our 30th Anniversary competition. You could be our next winner with 30 gift worth over $20,000 to be won throughout the competition.

Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne 2005 Magnum

Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne 2005 Magnum

Veteran Dom Pérignon Chef de Cave Richard Geoffroy has recently annouced his retirement and passed the torch to Vincent Chaperon. Many of Langton’s Dom Pérignon devotees will know Vincent from our events in Sydney. Here’s is a wine that two masters worked on together so it’s only right that you enjoy twice as much.
‘I believe that the 2005 DP is the best since 2002, which remains the best recent vintage and is probably only eclipsed by the amazing 100-point 1996.’

97 points, James Suckling

Seppelt Show Sparkling Limited Release Shiraz

Seppelt Show Sparkling Limited Release Shiraz 2008

The label says ‘Released April 2019’, so you can certainly say this is early access. And that’s a good thing as Sparkling Shiraz continues to grow as the fizz of choice from Australian clelebrations. For many, that sparkling red fizz has to be the Seppelt Show Sparkling Limited Release Shiraz. Beyond that, we have a range of Sparkling reds in our portfolio.

Château d'Yquem 1er Cru Classé Supérieur

Château d'Yquem 1er Cru Classé Supérieur
Sauternes Vertical 2007, 1997, 1987

Add a touch of Joyeux Noël to Christmas this year and pour some aged Yquem. There are golden Bordeaux treasures beyond that of France’s most singular Château to be discovered also from Ch. Climens to Coutet. If you haven’t yet, you should.

The Barossa Museum is Open!

This week we opened the doors our museum. Recently acquired from a private collector, this is a serious selection of aged and large format Barossa Valley classics. However, it’s also quite accessible. From the response we’ve had this week (probably the fastest sale of a 6-litre Methuselah we’ve had online) we know this is exactly what our clients love – especially in the run-up to Christmas.
