Willi’s Wine Bar – and its famous posters – is a Paris institution.
Langton’s is selling a unique and beautiful set of 25 Willi’s Wine Bar posters spanning three decades, with proceeds going to the Peter Lehmann Arts and Education Trust. The auction is now open, and will close on April 15. Bid now.
The set is extremely rare, including the last or second-last copy of a number of posters. Most are printed on fine wove paper and signed. Others are reserved prints or from limited editions. There will be 25 Posters for auction, which will include the much anticipated 2015 Poster by Barossa artist Rod Schubert. Rod is the first Australian Artist invited to produce a Poster for the series & April 15th is the world release. The Schubert poster will be launched in the Barossa Valley by the owner and founder of Willi’s Wine Bar, Mark Williamson. As an added bonus the Foundation Barossa will issue a tax deductible receipt to the successful bidder!
Of the 25 Posters, 19 are signed Velin Editions, of which three (1985,1989 & 1990) are the very last copies and two (1991,1999) of which there are only 2 copies left. 6 of the Posters (1982,1984,1986,1987,1988,1993) are Reserved Prints/Limited Re-Editions of which, the 1987 Poster is the last one.
Inspired by Pirelli and Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Williamson launched the series in 1983. Since then it has become one of the most widely-collected and traded poster series in the world.
