Zipper Tickers and One Disease Charity Auction
Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in News
Langton’s is happy and proud, with the Macquarie Group Foundation, to support ZIPPER TICKERS and ONE DISEASE through this important fund-raising auction.
All wines for sale have been donated and 100% of funds raised will go to the two charities. There is no buyer’s premium, either. What you bid is what you pay.
Zipper Tickers are Newcastle (NSW) volunteers whose children have been affected by Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). The group operates as an extension of Westmead Children’s Hospital. Funds raised will help buy a new heart lung machine (about $500,000). CHD is Australia’s most common birth defect and is responsible for more than 30% of all childhood deaths – taking more lives than all other childhood illnesses combined. More at zippertickers.com
One Disease is focused on eliminating diseases in remote indigenous communities – one disease at a time. First on the list is scabies – a preventable skin disease which affects seven in 10 children under one year old in isolated communities. It can lead to heart and kidney failure, even premature death. One Disease aims to implement innovative, culturally respectful treatment programs that are built together with indigenous communities. More at 1disease.org
