Seppelt Drumborg Chardonnay, Grampians
The Drumborg Vineyard Henty Chardonnay is one of the prized Seppelt range from the Drumborg Vineyard planted by Karl Seppelt in 1964. Expressing purity and balance, the wines is made from select parcels cool-climate Chardonnay chosen for their balance between intense flavour and acidity.
"Malt and vanilla aromas, partly barrel-derived, with some smoky sulfides and an extra layer of interest. There are lemon and grapefruit citrus-spectrum flavours on the palate, with a crisp, almost nervy intensity and vitality that is really impressive. Concentration allied with subtlety and refinement. Long, long aftertaste. Excellent."

"This has refined and fresh white peaches and grilled lemons, delivered in a very minerally, salty fresh palate. Gentle, savory twist at the finish. Classy chardonnay."

Mature estate vines, hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, barrel-fermented with full solids included, mlf blocked. A wine of striking purity and focus, minerally acidity the framework on which to display the classic ultra-cool grown fruit flavours with pink grapefruit and white peach leading the way. A long future.

Henty
Situated 300 km west of Melbourne in Southwestern Victoria, Henty was named after the first family to settle in Victoria in the 1800’s. The region was pioneered in 1964 by Karl Seppelt, who recognized that the cool climate was ideal for the production of sparkling and aromatic wines. The Seppelts planted 100 hectares at Drumborg in 1964 and this was followed by Crawford River in 1975. The long, gentle autumn ripening period allows the retention of both acid and aromatics crucial for Henty’s flagship variety, Riesling.
