Mesh Eden Valley Riesling
From three vineyards high on the slopes of Eden Valley, pickers pedantically divide Riesling grapes row by row. Clare Valley’s Jeffrey Grosset and Eden Valley’s Robert Hill Smith oversee the whole process before taking their chosen half of harvest, parting ways and interpreting the fruit as they each see fit.
Each element of the split harvest begins as nearly identical – save for the fruit selected after vine tasting from Jeffrey and Robert – but are made according to the two makers respective philosophies. After that, and much debate, both efforts are blended to showcase a subline Eden Valley Riesling.
What the makers say
‘I'm convinced that we have been able to achieve more in quality terms by working together and sharing our knowledge. The chance to contribute to the reputation of the region and the variety is very exciting and the fact that Robert and I share a passion for Riesling is, for me, what makes this project so special’
Jeffrey Grosset, Grosset Wines
‘This single word represents so much of the philosophy behind the wine – the weaving together of ideas & the combining of skills and knowledge.’
