Uccelliera (‘bird house’) is a small artisanal producer located in the Tuscan sub-region of Brunello di Montalcino. Owner and winemaker Andrea Cortonesi coaxes small quantities of top notch Brunello from the 6 ha vineyard in the southern part of Montalcino. The wines are all 100% Sangiovese, grown at 150-350 metres in Castelnuovo dell’Abate just south of Montalcino. Uccelliera produces just four wines; an IGT Toscana, a Rosso di Montalicino, a Brunello and a Riserva made only in exceptional years.
