Glass-staining purple. Intense, expansive aromas of red and dark berries, smoky Indian spices, violet and licorice. Spicy, mineral-accented black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors show excellent clarity and become sweeter with air. This precise, lively, concentrated wine displays a deft blend of power and finesse. The mineral and red fruit notes repeat on the clean, nervy finish.

Medium full red colour, slight hint of purple. Smoky, earthy, savoury bouquet, meaty and plummy and spicy, clean and fruit-driven, but it's more than simple fruit aromas. Very pruney, juicy palate with nice texture and softness, fine powdery tannns and good balance. Fairly high alcohol suggested by the back-palate heat. But I like it. Spicy, elegant, medium-bodied. A lighter, prettier mencia.
