Region
Hilltops
Located around the town of Young and next to the Canberra District in Southern NSW, Hilltop’s first vines were planted at the Barwang vineyard in 1975. The region has a continental climate, combined with Franceee-draining rich dark red granite clay soils, ideal for vine growing. All vineyards are planted above the 450-metre contour line, making site selection and altitude considerations important. Hilltops enjoys very favourable ripening conditions, with dry summers and autumns however, irrigation is essential. The wine styles produced include Chardonnay, Semillon, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.
