The San Andreas Fault is Hirsch Vineyards’ signature Pinot Noir and is crafted to represent the entirety of this multifaceted vineyard. The 2019 San Andreas Fault has fruit from 36 distinct farming blocks. It is the flagship wine from Hirsch, and the wine that represents the summation of the complex vineyard. The vineyard has a fearsome diversity of soils, aspects, elevations and microclimates. This complexity defines Hirsch’s farming and winemaking practices: each block was individually developed and is now farmed, harvested and vinified separately.
Wonderful purity of fruit to this with ripe-strawberry, citrus and raspberry aromas that follow through to a medium to full body with very intense, powerful tannins that show strength and structure. Vibrant acidity. This needs time to soften. Blend of various vineyards on the site.

This is a fresh, salty, crisp and focused wine from the beautiful coastal site. It is stone-like in texture and brimming in sea air. Rose, raspberry, black tea and clove rise to the fore of the deft, silky palate, finding cohesion and grace.
