Ballot-Millot & Fils 'Genevrieres' Premier Cru Meursault
The Premier Cru plot of ‘Genévrières du Dessus’ is situated between ‘Perrières’ and ‘Poruzots’ in Meursault. The wine is made to achieve a balance of acidity and roundness of character wherein wine shows the hand of the winemaker and the terroir in equal measure.
'The 2015 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru has a pretty orange blossom and citrus bouquet that is neatly entwined with the oak. The palate is fresh and vibrant, with a fine line of acidity, taut and linear but tightly coiled toward the finish. I suspect this Meursault has more to give for those with the nous to cellar this for three or four years. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.'

'Lightly nutty and interesting on the nose. Well constructed. Hint of cough pastille. Needs to relax but there is lots of substance here.'

Meursault Blancs have heady aromas of bitter or dried almonds, leaves, hot bread crusts, and russet apples. On the palate they are quite substantial, with a soft mouthfeel that is almost unctuous. The finish is very long.
