The La Combe du Pré vineyard was planted in the 60s, with new vines planted up until the 90s. It is a cool area, resulting in beautiful clarity of fruit and freshness in the wine. The red fruit sings with a light juiciness.
As with all Jérôme Galeyrand, this is certified organic and made with adherence to biodynamic principles. It is aged in a maximum of 20% new oak barrels.
Next to Les Echezots, coldest lieu-dit in Marsannay. Picked a week later than Gevrey. One year in barrel. Remontage at the start of fermentation and pigeage when the ferment has warmed up. Tank sample. To be bottled mid December 2019.
Fragrant with dusty raspberry fruit. Attractive stony freshness. A touch of wood on the palate (one new barrel out of seven) but it will go. Silky fine tannins, so fresh. Quite delicate and cool.
