The La Combe du Pré vineyard was planted in the 60s, with new vines planted up until the 90s. It is a cool area, resulting in beautiful clarity of fruit and freshness in the wine. The red fruit sings with a light juiciness.
As with all Jérôme Galeyrand, this is certified organic and made with adherence to biodynamic principles. It is aged in a maximum of 20% new oak barrels.
Notes of rose petals, plums and exotic spices preface the 2019 Marsannay La Combe du Pré, a medium to full-bodied, lively wine with melting tannins and a mineral finish. Fine-boned and elegant, this has turned out beautifully.

The 2019 Marsannay La Combe du Pré showed a little overripeness on the nose, where figgy, prune-like notes shrouded out the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent black fruit, a little tarry in style. I find the finish here rather labored and needing more tension.

This is a relatively cool site in Marsannay, on ostrea accuminata bedrock. Fresh purple with a chiselled distinction, some grainy tannins behind, white pepper, attractively balanced medium-bodied Marsannay.
