Ridiculously fun light red! Very easy to drink and best served with conversation and silliness. Crunchy stems and smoke on the nose with fresh berries and sour cherries on the palate. With less than 800 bottles made it will be a sad day when this runs out. (Winery Note).
Single-site, Saltwater River Gamay. 12.9% ABV - pH 3.79. Unfiltered and unfined.
Frankly I like this quite a lot. It feels joyous to me but in a savoury sense rather than in an overtly fruity way. It may even have a gentle spritz; I didn’t notice it when I first tasted it but on revisiting the next day it seemed to be there, which is the wrong way about but there you go. Nuts, herbs, twiggy spices and red cherry flavours. A good slip of tannin but the energy and momentum of the wine, pulsed with acidity, remains high. The only real ‘problem’ with this wine is that it’s hard to find; it’s a new release and already it’s in short supply.
