It's always a treat to open and sample any of Samantha O'Keefe's wines. The 2018 Chardonnay begins with classic and seductive Chardonnay aromas with elegant oak tones of vanilla, cardamom and dried caramel, before showcasing beautiful, expressive layers of Meyer lemon panna cotta, Golden Delicious apple and Bosc pear wrapped with floral notes of white rose and honeysuckle. Medium-bodied and with 13% alcohol, the wine shows immaculate precision, a balanced structure, lifting acidity and a delightfully textural mouthfeel. The wine continues to evolve and unpack its secrets across the long, lingering finish that is utterly gorgeous and will please even the pickiest of Chardonnay lovers. These wines continue to stun and should be in every serious wine collector's cellar.

Bottled as a Cape South Coast wine because it includes components from Elandskloof, Lismore and Stanford, this is all about bright fruit rather than oak, with subtle pear and citrus flavours, racy zip and acidity and a hint of vanilla spice.
