Langton’s Selections
Carlei Estate Yarra Valley Pinot Noir, Carlei Estate Heathcote Shiraz
Sergio Carlei, a chiropractor by trade and a winemaker by vocation, and father of seven children, is a first generation Italian with a remarkable joie de vivre. His winery and vineyard is located in Upper Beaconsfield, 50km east of Melbourne.
It is partially a negociant-type operation sourcing Shiraz from Heathcote, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Yarra Valley and aromatic varieties from the Cardinia Ranges. His positive energy flows into his wines. Carlei’s own vineyard is biodynamic. He is an early Australian proponent of this philosophical method of viticulture/farming first introduced by Rudolf Steiner.
Carlei Estate wines are his top offerings. These are all thoughtful beautifully made wines based on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. They appear on the market, but these are not wines that should be cellared beyond the medium term. The Greens Vineyard range and Signature wines
