Jim Barry is synonymous with Australian winemaking. A benchmark producer of world-class wines, their Rieslings are the shining heroes. The delectable single-vineyard Tamar Riesling is a hands-down crowd favourite, and The Florita is an icon of Australian white wine – arguably the best in the country. The only thing better? Both of them together. So, that’s exactly what we’ve done in this Riesling six-pack containing: 5 x Jim Barry Wines Single Vineyard Riesling, Tamar Valley 2018 1 x Jim Barry Wines The Florita Riesling, Clare Valley 2021
Tasted alongside the Florita Cellar Release (2015) and the Wolta Wolta (2019), and never was there a more achingly beautiful trio of wines. This ranks slightly higher than the Cellar Release due to its startling clarity, and scintillating, persuasive power. It will live forever and a day, and I bet at Cellar Release time in 2027, when we see this wine again, you will be thanking your lucky stars you stocked up now, in 2022. Astounding.

Lemon/lime, a distinct ‘mineral’ feel here, and tightness to the wine, though it’s also not short on flavour. It’s intense, a burst of mixed citrus with a stony/flinty texture, bright clean acidity, and a subtle floral perfume on a finish of excellent precision and length. Classic.

Palish straw colour. Restrained, shy, somewhat closed aromas which are clean, pleasant and classic: dried flowers and herbs, with a slaty mineral trace, while the palate is lean and delicate with refined, linear shape and a touch of austerity. Refreshing acidity. A wine that seems built to age and will reward cellaring.
