Charles Heidsieck is known today for a bold but classical approach. They often release their wines later than other houses and use a higher proportion of reserve wines. Charles Heidsieck’s rosés -- with the vintage wines likely to show great freshness -- are typically blended from 10% Pinot Noir and 90% from a separate blend of roughly two-thirds Pinot Noir and one-third Chardonnay. The aim is to express the intensely-perfumed, complex, Pinot-driven house style while maintaining vibrant cherry and strawberry flavours, a faint smokiness and subtle, toasty brioche notes. Chardonnay brings balance and lengthens the wines with a fresh and cleansing acidity.
