About this wine

Cos d’Estournel Goulée Medoc

Goulée by Cos d’Estournel is hewn of fruit from the northern Médoc, abutting the estuary of the Gironde. The hillside on which the vineyard is planted was once a small island. Akin to Maremma and the coastal regions of Tuscany, this Bordeaux sub-zone is known for riper, richer and more powerful iterations of red wine than the more astringent, mid-weighted Bordeaux norm.

The region experiences gentler diurnal swings than the Haut-Médoc, a strong maritime influence and richer alluvial soils, dominated by deep gravels. This is a platform for polished, firmly architected modernist expressions. The serendipity of these factors aligning ensures optimal ripeness in the vineyard, while conferring a countenance of black fruits, exotic spice, salubrious oak and a smooth piste of immaculately groomed tannins to the ensuing wines.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Cos d'Estournel
Majestic, intense, full bodied and tannic, Cos d’Estournel is considered the leading wine of St Estèphe. Highly tannic in its youth, over time it develops much much like the great wines of adjoining Pauillac. The wine is typically a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, consistently displaying immense power and evident breed.
