domaine armand rousseau
DOMAINE ARMAND ROUSSEAU, Chambertin-Clos de Beze 2002 Magnum
About this wine
Domaine Armand Rousseau, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze
Charles Rousseau, who passed away at 93 in 2016, purchased his first parcel of Clos de Bèze in late 1961 and the family acquired more plots in 1989 and 1992; this last purchase almost doubling their holding. With 1.42ha, they are now the second-largest owner of this fabled vineyard whose history dates back to 630. Like the Chambertin this is also matured in 100% new wood which you barely ever notice, and, in masked tastings, it sometimes outperforms the Chambertin in its youth with its slightly more elegant framework. Either way, these ethereal wines remain two of Burgundy's greatest.
