Founded in 1999, Domaine Cosse Maisonneuve estate was born from the association of two talented winegrowers: Matthieu Cosse and Catherine Maisonneuve. Matthieu Cosse, oenologist graduated from the Bordeaux Oenology Institute and former rugby player, has already been making wine at Château La Coste in Provence since 2006. Catherine Maisonneuve, straight out of the famous Chateau Léoville Las Cases, has a degree in viticulture and oenology.
Having no local roots, but perceiving the great potential of the terroir, they came together to produce great Cahors wines .
A few years later, the talented duo expanded their estate which now has 17 hectares, with mainly Malbec grape varieties., but also Merlot, Gamay and Cabernet Franc.
Biodynamics is part of the estate's philosophy, and makes it possible to obtain grapes that perfectly reflect the identity of the Cahors terroir. Strict principles and viticulture that respects nature: manual harvesting, small yields, precise and fair vinification.
The wines of Matthieu and Catherine are surprising, at the antipodes of the rustic wines of the region: fine, elegant , structured wines with a high ageing potential.
