About this wine

Domaine de Chevalier Blanc Grand Cru Classé, Pessac-Léognan

Domaine de Chevalier is one of the names to cite when talking about Bordeaux Blanc. Bright in its youth, its ability to age is legendary. Patience, here, is a true virtue.

White wine accounts for only 20% of production at Chevalier, yet the care poured into it is as profound as with their famed red blends. Fruit is grown with a focus on sustainabilty and, in many parcels, biodynamic practices.

In the bottle, you can expect a blend of majority sauvignon blanc, with sémillon for richness. Grapes are handpicked and fermented in 100% new French oak. It is then aged on less for a year and a half: this makes it the longest aged dry white of Bordeaux.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Domaine de Chevalier
Domaine de Chevalier is a Grand Cru Classé de Graves producer of top tier red and white wines in Bordeaux. It is considered one of the most respected properties in Graves, after Chateau Haut-Brion and Chateau Mission Haut-Brion. Now owned by the Bernard family, the domaine is situated within the Pessac-Léognan appellation, and consists of 45 ha of vines of which 80% is planted to red varieties. Approximately three-quarters of the vineyard has been replanted or newly planted since the mid-eighties. While much attention has been given to the white wines, the reds have gained equal recognition since the mid-nineties. A second wine called L’Esprit de Chevalier is also produced.
