About this wine
Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair's Aux Reignots 1er Cru from Vosne-Romanée
Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair's Aux Reignots 1er Cru from Vosne-Romanée is a true expression of Burgundy’s terroir. This esteemed vineyard, situated on the slopes above La Romanée, benefits from ideal sun exposure and limestone-rich soil. Under the meticulous care of winemaker Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, the vineyard's unique character shines through in every bottle.
The winemaking process is both traditional and precise, with hand-harvested grapes and careful sorting to ensure only the finest fruit is used. Fermentation occurs in open-top wooden vats, followed by ageing in French oak barrels, with a significant portion being new. This approach enhances the wine’s complexity and depth.
On the nose, expect aromas of dark cherry, raspberry, and subtle earthy notes. The palate offers rich flavours of red fruit, delicate spice, and a hint of minerality, supported by fine tannins and a long, elegant finish. This wine promises a memorable experience with every sip.

Expert Review
Stephen Tanzer
Good full red. Raspberry, minerals and complex soil tones on the nose. Sweet, suave and creamy but at the same time sappy, juicy and deep, with resounding, lightly saline flavors of raspberry and pungent minerality. Amazingly flashy wine today, with its smooth tannins buried in sweet fruit. A beauty for drinking over the next eight or ten years. (I also tasted a single-barrel lot of Brulees, vinified with 100% whole clusters from fruit picked a week later for total ripeness, and was slightly put off by a note of horseradish and a slight dryness on the back. This rather extreme and puzzling wine will probably be bottled in magnums and will not be commercialized.)
