About this wine

A restrained yet intense Pinot Noir, less bombastic in style than other Dry River releases with a vibrant palate of dark cherry, subtly sweet spice and savoury herbs and a finish that goes on and on. It will continue to develop for some years yet, so cellar with confidence and enjoy at your leisure.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Dry River
Established by pioneering winegrower Neil McCallum in 1979, Dry River is a small boutique producer in Martinborough. Some the winery’s vines were first planted as early as 1979 on the famed Martinborough terrace, an extremely dry, gravely free draining site. Viticulture follows a philosophy of sustainability with the vines unirrigated and cropped to low levels. In the winery, the overarching philosophy is one of minimal intervention. Dry River has a stellar reputation for producing small quantities of super-premium artisanal wines. The range encompasses Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Syrah and a Late Harvest Riesling. In 2003 the winery was sold to American financier Julian Robertson, although Neil McCallum is still involved in the day to day management of the winery.
