About this wine
FAMILIA ZUCCARDI Poligonos Cabernet Franc, Paraje Altamira, Valle de Uco
The fruit for the Poligonos Cabernet Franc is sourced from Paraje Altamira in the Uco Valley at an altitude of 1100m asl. Planted on soils originating in the alluvial fan of the Tunuyán river in its upper zone. Very heterogeneous. Sandy loam surface horizon with medium and large gravels at variable depths, with abundant coverage of calcareous material.
In the winery, fermentation with native yeasts in concrete vessels. Ageing occurs in 500L French oak barrels.
'We believe that the Uco Valley is, due to its proximity, the area that best expresses the mountain identity in Mendoza. Since we began to explore its diversity, I was captivated by the austere richness and uniqueness of each of its towns.
Polígonos is the expression of those towns of the Valley. These are wines that make us travel through those places, through their landscapes, climates and soils. Its grapes come from different places that can be imagined on a map with diverse shapes and edges. A weird geometry as diverse as the sides of a Polygon. As diverse as the wines of each town.'
- Sebastián Zuccardi, Viticultor.

James Suckling
Redcurrant aromas with hints of fresh herbs, such as basil. Medium to full body. The round, soft tannins are polished and refined. Creamy texture. Delicious meat and spice to the fruit in the aftertaste. Drink or hold.

There is a fifth wine in the red Polígnos range: the 2018 Polígonos Paraje Altamira Cabernet Franc. It fermented in concrete and matured in oak foudre, as they feel the variety behaves better in oak that is neutral and doesn't mark the wine aromatically. I tasted this next to the one from San Pablo, and this one feels a little wider within the austere and pure style of the whole range. It's varietal, peppery and herbal, spicy, but also perfumed and refined. The tannins are fine and chalky, and the finish is long and clean. 3,000 bottles were filled from one foudre in February 2019.
