About this wine
The 1er Chardonnay from Yarra Valley darlings Hoddles Creek is the label’s flagship white. With the 1er range, you’re always going to have something special to look forward to– it’s only made in years when winemaker Franco d’Anna deems the fruit worthy.
The grapes for this Chardonnay are always sourced from the SRM block of Hoddles Creek’s Top Paddock vineyard. It’s fermented in minimal new oak, to allow for the fruit to speak with clarity. It’s Yarra Valley, elevated, made in the Burgundian style. On the palate, you’ll get subtle white florals, peaches and citrus. Oh, and a touch of struck match. The finish is long and lingering.
Hoddles Creek is considered by many to be one of the best (and the best value) wineries in the Yarra. This is its top shelf white. Drink now, or cellar with confidence.
