Pehu Simonet Face Nord Extra brut Grand Cru, Champagne

Pehu-Simonet is a grower Champagne house based in Verzenay, one of the most celebrated Grand Cru villages of the Montagne de Reims. Under David Pehu's direction, the estate focuses on pinot noir from family vineyards in Verzenay, Verzy and Sillery, complemented by a small share of chardonnay. The 'Face Nord' Extra Brut is a precise reflection of these northern slopes, where chalk-rich soils and cool exposures shape wines of depth and tension. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks with partial barrel ageing for texture, followed by extended lees ageing to build complexity. The dosage is kept low to preserve purity and freshness. Each release shows fine pinot expression, redcurrant, citrus peel and roasted almond, balanced by a taut, mineral palate and a lingering, saline finish.
