Picardy Pemberton Pinot Noir

With the oldest vines nearly 25 years old and with the 10 clones now in the blend (it took the Pannell’s over twenty years to source and quarantine them all!), Picardy is hitting their straps with what is arguably the most consistent Pinot Noir in Western Australia. The fruit from this non-irrigated, naturally low yielding vineyard is 80% destemmed and there is a cold pre-fermentation maceration (to extract colour and aroma) before a natural yeast fermentation when the wine is hand plunged up to five times a day. The result is a perfumed, sensuous yet serious and structured wine that is enjoyable on release but capable of rewarding your patience over the next 5-7 years.
