The incredibly rare and exclusive 49 Year Old Glenrothes Limited Bottling Single Malt Scotch Whisky 1970. Glenrothes distillery is deep in the Speyside region of the beautiful Scottish Highlands. A rich, fruity single malt was distilled on a chilly day in December and put into three neighbouring casks, where they would rest for nearly fifty years before The Last Drop bottled them. ‘It’s a fabulous, classic speyside whisky which has matured beautifully, with a great balance of vanilla, sweet honey, heather and tannins’’ says Jago. Jim Murray’s tasting notes state “The taste is delicate, the spices make their way forward, meeting little resistance from elsewhere. The malts are bitter-sweet, incredibly juicy and then... slightly smoky...; a soft chocolate ice cream finale...teasing shards of peat; this has drifted off in the general direction of perfection.”
