TOLLOT-BEAUT Clos du Roi 1er cru, Beaune 2018 Bottle
About this wine
TOLLOT-BEAUT Clos du Roi 1er cru, Beaune
Clos du Roi 1er Cru takes its name from King Louis XI who annexed the vineyards of Beaune and Corton following the death of Charles the Bold, the last Duke of Burgundy. The cru is located in the northern end of Beaune.
Galet subsoil covered with sand, clay and stones – from the alluvial cone of Savigny-lès-Beaune - which develops a quick ripeness. Pinot Noir is almost entirely de-stemmed and Tollot-Beaut has moved away from entirely new oak to a mix of new and seasoned. The 1er Cru will see 50% new oak (Grand Crus will see more, up to 60% while villages will see less as low as 20%). Tollot-Beaut’s Clos du Roi offers floral notes, a delicate structure, smoothness, smooth and spicy tannins.
'It’s our knowledge of environment, the terroir, the history, which allows us to reach this quality.'
