Two Hands is a touchstone of exemplary shiraz from across South Australia’s best regions and sites.The Single Vineyard Series is a luxury selection that co-founder Michael Twelftree says capture the ‘X-factor’ of some of the country’s most esteemed vineyards. Waterfall Block Shiraz hails from a unique vineyard in close proximity to Adelaide’s CBD.
A remarkable microclimate plays a big part in this shiraz. The vineyard is steep, with vines shielded from morning sun by the Mount Lofty ranges and the afternoon sun by a hillside to the North. The vines ripen slowly. Fruit is matured in stainless steel, on skins for 10 days. The result is a wine that, although deep and dark in the glass, has a soft weightlessness in the mouth. Nutmeg, dark cherries and dried rose petals on the nose, fruit and fine tannins on the palate lead to an intriguingly dry finish.
