Vega Sicilia Pintia

Bodegas Vega Sicilia. Founded in 1864, and considered among the world’s finest producers of red wine – think the biggest names of Burgundy, but translated with a very Spanish flavour. The Pintia is a youthful, modern red, belying the centuries-old heritage of this very important producer. There’s oak influence, but what you won’t expect is the freshness. This is a wine that stands on its tippy-toes, expressing its terroir with elegance, purity, and persistence.

Intensity, as is typical for Vega Sicilia, is the name of the game when it comes to Pintia. Directly after picking, the grapes are left in a cold chamber to preserve their essence right off the vine. As you’d expect for such an esteemed winery, below-par berries are discarded to leave only the very best. Malolactic fermentation occurs in wood, and the wine is aged in 70% French and 30% American oak for a year.
