Light to medium-yellow colour, honey and peanut brittle aromas, the palate brightly fresh and frisky, with lively citrus flavours, bright acidity and tremendously refined, tensioned flavour that lingers on and on. A terrific young chardonnay. Tremendous underlying complexity: tense, refined, powerful and very long.

Light straw colour. Subtle, reserved aromas of smoky, nutty, barrel and sulfide nuances, a whisper of roasted hazelnut, a hint of pineapple, while the palate is light-bodied and soft, a trifle amorphous and lacking direction at first pour. It is broader, richer and more up-front than the Quartz, and there are some phenolics contributing to texture while the finish bears a slight grip. After three days ullaged in the bottle, the wine had transformed, developing great richness and complexity of character—without showing any deleterious effects of oxidation. It had opened up and revealed its true self. Loads of smoky, buttery, roasted hazelnuts. A superb wine. It needs ageing, or at least, decanting and generous aeration.

Supple and mellow in its vibe but dances with its light and lacy flavours and pretty scents. Lots of just-ripe stone fruit, lemon balm, soft talc-like minerally characters, faint Parisian almond and halva with a building core of grapefruity acidity that rolls long through the cool and brittle-bright finish. It’s gentle in a way, speaks softy, a little unassured, let’s say. In all that, a comforting, gentle approach and gigantic appeal; this misses nothing in its roll call of detail. Very good drinking, even right now.

The tension in this is fabulous. Taut as a snare drum, yet intense in flavour. It starts off on a citrus theme, with lemons and a touch of tangerine, tempered by a layer of nutty, leesy richness – just a smidge – this is a linear offering. It finishes long and persuasive. A delicious drink.

Pale yellow. An intensely perfumed bouquet features tangerine, pear nectar, iodine, jasmine, buttered toast and candied fig aromas, and ginger and floral notes emerge as the wine opens up. Deeply concentrated and focused on the palate, with juicy acidity bracing powerful citrus and orchard fruit, honeysuckle and buttered toast flavors. Rich but shockingly lithe, delivering superb finishing energy and floral-driven persistence.
