About this wine
LANGTONS Josef Chromy and Bass Phillip Upgrade 6 pack Pinot Noir
This carefully curated collection starts with five bottles of Josef Chromy's 'complex, lingering' 2023 Pinot Noir from northern Tasmania. Sourced from an area renowned for its cool climate and ideal conditions for cultivating Pinot Noir, this wine encapsulates the finesse and elegance the Estate is renowned for. For our New Year Sale we've convinced our buying team to upgrade the sixth bottle to the 97-point Classified wonder that is Bass Phillip's 2022 Premium Pinot Noir. Recently taking the number three spot in our Top Wines of 2024 list, this is simply one of Australia's finest pinots.
"Impressive concentration and power: very ripe but also vibrant. It will richly reward cellaring. This has some wow factor." 97 points, Huon Hooke.

Halliday Wine Companion
Bass Phillip Premium Pinot Noir 2022
All up, this spends 14 months in French oak (36% new) and the outcome is an impressive wine. No wallflower as it’s rich, ripe, full-bodied and laden with aromas and flavours of dark cherries, florals, joss sticks, chinotto, baking spices and garrigue. Raw silk tannins flood the palate, so, too the sweet fruit; concentrated and powerful, yet there’s a succulence and vitality within. A lot to consider, including cellaring for a few years before drinking. And yet, for hedonists, there’s an innate beauty making this irresistible now - Jane Faulkner, 23 May 2024

Halliday Wine Companion
'I like the smoked meat and struck-flint edge to this wine that shows lovely ripe, dark cherry, mulberry and wild cherry tones. There's a subtle gaminess below that fruit with five-spice and Chinese barbecue shop notes along with amaro, wood spice, dried citrus rind and pressed blossom. Medium bodied with a touch of sour cherry and dried herbs, bright acidity and a complex, lingering retreat.'

Huon Hooke
Very deep and bright red-purple hues, the bouquet deep and latent with dark cherry/blackberry and violet nuances, while the fruit is very intense on the palate, deep and concentrated with sumptuous ripe flavours of dark fruits backed by masses of fine-grained, drying tannins that refresh the finish and help extend the very long aftertaste. Impressive concentration and power: very ripe but also vibrant. It will richly reward cellaring. This has some wow factor. 19 DEC 2023
