About this wine
Until 1996 this was simply ‘Old Vine’ Shiraz – probably the first wine ever to be so labelled. It carries in its DNA the vinous identity both of McLaren Vale and d’Arenberg founders the Osborn family. As ‘old vine’ became a cliché, d’Arry and Chester Osborn changed the name to honour the racehorse whose winnings and subsequent sale in 1912 funded the wine business.
