E. GUIGAL La Turque, Cote-Rotie
Côte-Rôtie La Turque is sourced from the fringes of the Côte Brune, tussling with the whiter edges of the Blonde for dominant geological pickup across a confluence of schist, clay and limestone. Here, there is more weight, intensity, less Viognier and assertive tannins that build steam across a rich finish nourished with beef bouillon, lilac, star anise and spiced charcuterie. Yet the fruit touches each side of the red and darker spectrums. A Janus that looks one way while glimpsing the other. This is the paradox that defines the complexities at the heart of the world’s greatest wines.
