One bottle only, the Macallan Red Collection 78 Year Old. Bottle 436 out of a limited edition of 500. This is a singular Single Malt, the oldest release ever put to market by the Macallan, and the oldest they have ever produced.
In a suite of six, The Red Collection captures Single Malts at their respective peaks of maturation. The oldest of the six—this 78 Year Old—is a sherried Single Malt that has been patiently matured over the past seven decades by generations of stewards. Its final realisation comes from the skilled hands of Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell, with bottling taking place in 2020.
The bottle is presented in a handcrafted oak case, fittingly made from the very same sustainable European oak from which Macallan makes their casks. It is upholstered in plush Scottish leather from the renowned Bridge of Weir in a fitting scarlet hue.
The 78 years represented by this bottle account for 39% of the Macallan’s lifetime. An astonishing labour of patience, it is a trophy acquisition for any collector of fine Whisky. Provenance is assured.
