About this wine

Alvaro Palacios Finca Dofi is a single vineyard grenache (‘garnacha’, as they say in Spain), made from 20+ year-old vines grown in one of the vineyards that launched Priorat onto the world stage.

The winemaking process is no-holds-barred. Biodynamic and organic principles are strictly adhered to, with all harvest undertaken by hand. Only the best fruit is used. Fermentation takes place in oak, and the juice is then aged in majority old oak.

A redolent bouquet of spices and purple fruit linger on the nose, with light notes of anise, smoke and floral. Finca Dolfi tastes like juicy raspberries, cola, mocha and star anise, with excellent acid balance adding freshness to the palate. Fine tannins complete the picture, making for a wine that is rich, yet ultimately refreshing.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Alvaro Palacios
Alvaro Palacios is one of Spain’s most significant and influential producers, credited for being one of the pioneers that assisted in the resurrection of Priorat as a wine region. Alvaro came from a winemaking family in Rioja but completed his oenology studies in Bordeaux while working under Jean-Pierre Moueix at Chateau Pétrus. In 1989, he made the decision to set up in Priorat. Almost from the start, his wines were met with great international acclaim, helping to raise global awareness of Priorat as a region. In 1998, intrigued by the potential of the Bierzo region, Alvaro and his nephew Picardo Perez formed a joint venture called Descendientes de J Palacios making superb Mencia based wines from a variety of terroirs.
