About this wine

CHATEAU ANGELUS Tempo D'Angelus, Bordeaux

Château Angélus Tempo d'Angélus Bordeaux 2021 is a wine that reflects the esteemed heritage and winemaking expertise of Château Angélus, one of the most renowned estates in the Saint-Émilion appellation. The 2021 vintage presented challenges due to cooler and wetter conditions, requiring careful vineyard management and precise winemaking techniques. Tempo d'Angélus is typically crafted from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, showcasing a balance of rich fruit flavours, elegant tannins, and a refined structure. This particular wine is noted for its aromatic complexity, with hints of dark berries, spice, and a touch of oak, making it an excellent representation of the Bordeaux region's offerings. While it is approachable in its youth, it also possesses the potential to age gracefully, revealing further depth and character over time.

Currently designated Premier grand cru classé (A) in the most recent 2012 Classification of Saint-Émilion, the estate is owned and managed by eighth generation Hubert de Boüard de Laforest and his cousin Jean-Bernard Grenie. Located in the centre-west of the St-Emilion appellation, the estate’s vineyards are planted on a warm south-facing slope. The Grand Vin is a dense, unctuous blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, that can appear slightly austere when young, developing greater generousity and richness with age. A second wine called Carillon d’Angélus is also made
