About this wine
Château Cantemerle 5me Cru Classé, Haut-Médoc
Château Cantemerle's is a fifth growth (5ème Cru Classé) Château located in the Haut-Médoc appellation of Bordeaux. The Château is situated in one of the most beautiful settings of the region, in woodlands on the outskirts of the city of Bordeaux. The wine undergoes 12-16 months maturation in 50% new French oak barriques. Château Cantemerle’s style is lively and fruit forward. The best vintages show complex aromas and flavours of black currants, plums and spice with superb freshness and plentiful fine-grained tannins.

Expert Review
LANGTONS
92-94/100 Andrew Caillard MW. Deep colour. Dark berry/ dark chocolate/ cedar wood aromas. Lovely concentrated wine with deep blackcurrant frit, plenty of cedar oak notes, and plentiful chocolaty tannins. Finishes chalky dry and firm.
15.5/20 Julia Harding MW, Jancis Robinson. Black core. Black cherry rim. Spicy on the nose, lean and pretty dry on the palate with a sweet vanilla flourish at the end.
16/20 Steven Spurrier, Decanter. Attractively aromatic southern Médoc fruit, charm and spice from the Merlot, elegant firmness from the Cabernet and overall finesse and balance. Drink 2014-2022.
89-90/100 Robert Parker Jr. This is a traditional, authentic example of Cantemerle’s vineyard as well as its general winemaking style. Elegant and mid-weight with a finesse-filled style, the 2011 exhibits a dark ruby hue with purple nuances in addition to a bouquet of mulberries, cranberries and black cherries intermixed with flowers and forest floor. Medium-bodied and soft as well as crunchy and vibrant, it can be enjoyed over the next 10-12 years.
