About this wine
Château Séraphine, Pomerol
'A rising star in Pomerol'
Jane Anson, Decanter
Château Séraphine is the newest Pomerol estate on the block. Comprising a 2.2-hectare parcel of vines, purchased in 2017 by Martin Krajewski, it is a vision splendide albeit in a Lilliputian way. The property is run by Charlotte ‘Lolly’ Krajewski, a 30s something Plumpton winemaking graduate with tons of winemaking experience at Château des Sours in the Entre Deux Mers, Elephant Hill and Trinity Hill in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. She epitomises the ascendency of practical and highly motivated women in the world of wine. Energetic and articulate, she brings a down-to-earth highly skilled and experienced factor to her father’s magnificent yet tiny enterprise.

Medium-deep colour. Beautiful dark chocolate, dark plum, mulberry fruits with espresso, wax polish notes. Generous, balanced and controlled with pure saturated dark plum, mulberry, praline flavours, lovely inky richness, sinuous chocolaty/ velvety tannins and underlying roasted chestnut notes. Finishes firm and minerally with a lovely silky/ feathery plume. 95% merlot, 5% cabernet franc. 13.% alc

A delicious slice of Pomerol, leans into the vintage by going for elegant, finessed fruit rather than overly intense extraction, but you'll get plenty of supple and fleshy raspberry and cassis fruit, and curls of black chocolate, spiced cocoa bean and black truffle. 30hl/h yield, 40% new oak, 5% amphora, 15% press wine.
