About this wine

Giacomo Conterno Vigna Cerretta, Barolo DOCG

Roberto Conterno acquired the vineyards in the Cerretta cru in Serralunga in 2008, two-thirds of which is planted to Nebbiolo and the balance to Barbera. Prior to release, these wines were highly anticipated and didn’t disappoint being lauded by critics and snapped up by collectors. Allocations remain scarce and are counted in bottles more than they are in cases.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Giacomo Conterno
Established in 1908, Giacomo Conterno is a renowned family wine estate based in Piedmont. Roberto Conterno, the grandson of Giacomo has been running the estate since 2003. Until the 1970’s, the estate purchased fruit from growers to make its wines. Beginning in 1974, Giacomo Conterno began to acquire vineyards including the famous “Francia” vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba. The vineyards are organically managed and the wines are made using traditional methods with wild yeasts, temperature controlled fermentation, long maceration and ageing in large Slovenian oak botti. The estate is most famous for its prestigious age-worthy Barolos, Cascina Francia and Monfortino Riserva.
