About this wine
Henschke Apple Tree Bench is a Shiraz Cabernet blend that pays tribute to the heritage of this legendary family house. Named for the ‘Apple Tree bench’ on which Barossan forefather Johann Christian Henschke placed farm produce during harvest. A limited release cuvée, grapes are matured in majority old oak for a year and a half prior to bottling.
With pronounced blackcurrant, dried herbs, and jammy plum on the palate, this is a heady and rich blend of exquisite structure and balance. The length is extraordinary. Cellared with care, Apple Tree Bench will age gracefully for at least 20 years.

Expert Review
Ray Jordan
A beautifully ripe and luxurious shiraz cabernet blend from the Barossa. Loads of blackcurrant and ripe, plummy fruit, with perfect infusion of oak. Gloriously perfumed with aromas of violets and cherry, plus blackcurrant. Tannins are finely integrated.

Eden Valley shiraz (52%) and Barossa Valley cabernet sauvignon (48%) matured in French and American hogsheads (16% new) for 18 months. This over-delivers in terms of its satin and velvet mouthfeel and the celebration of the blackberry, blackcurrant and cherry fruits. It's the balance and length that will repay cellaring if you are looking for a wine with a long life the will please whenever you choose to drink it.
