About this wine
M8 MARGHERITA OTTO , Barolo DOCG
Margherita Otto M8 Barolo DOCG is a meticulous expression of Nebbiolo, crafted with precision and respect for tradition. Founded by Michael Garner, whose deep reverence for Barolo is evident in every bottle, Margherita Otto sources its fruit from prime vineyards in Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba. These revered sites are known for producing structured, age-worthy wines with remarkable depth.
Fermented in concrete and aged in large Slavonian oak casks, M8 preserves Nebbiolo’s character while allowing slow, graceful maturation. This approach enhances the wine's complexity without overshadowing its varietal purity.
Each vintage presents an aromatic profile of red cherries, dried roses, and earthy notes. On the palate, expect vibrant acidity and fine-grained tannins, leading to a long, mineral finish. Margherita Otto M8 is a Barolo of elegance and precision, crafted with an unwavering commitment to authenticity and a clear vision for longevity.

Expert Review
Vinous
The 2017 Barolo is a very pretty wine. Perfumed aromatics, distinctly red-toned fruit and mid-weight structure are the signatures. Readers will find a gracious, perfumed Barolo that is more finesse than power. There is plenty of tannin, so a few years in the cellar are warranted. Moreover, the 2017 does not show some of the small flaws of the 2016, although it is naturally the product of a less favorable growing season. This is a terrific showing.
