About this wine
Seppeltsfield EC3 Tinta Cao Tinta Amarela Touriga, Barossa 2020
An intriguing and enchanting blend from Barossa icons Seppeltsfield, the EC3 Tinta Cao Tinta Amarela Touriga is a thoroughly modern interpretation showcasing the estate’s commitment to honouring the past, while looking to the future. All fruit comes from established wine growing families, who have all previously contributed to the label’s famed fortified wine program.
An expression of three typical Portuguese varieties, this red blend is youthful and bright. Black and red berry, violets, pepper, and raspberry all contribute to this evocatively aromatic wine, leading to a refined, fresh and mineral finish.

Medium deep crimson. Expressive redcurrant, red cherry, mulberry, violet aromas with aniseed cola notes. Medium-bodied with plentiful juicy red fruits, cola/ chinotto notes, brambly textures, ample mid-palate richness and linear fresh acidity. Delicious bistro style wine. Drink now - 2028 14% Alc

Deep, bright, youthful purple colour leads into a floral and star-anise tinged aroma, blackberry and cranberry flavours tinged with black pepper, which all comes through spendidly in the mouth. Firm, authoritative palate structure, with tightness and grip that powers long into an extended finish. Potential plus.

Violet, black fruit, ironstone, liquorice allsorts. It’s tight and a little bony in a way, with a glassy and ‘mineral’ feel, lovely mouth-perfume, cherry pip and raspberry to taste, roast chestnut flavour and feel to tannin, and a gummy but fragrant finish of good length. A lot of personality and interest. Like this.

Seppeltsfield is a showpiece of the Barossa Valley, a magnificent complex of 19th century winery buildings surrounded by almost 100 hectares of vineyards. Seppeltsfield was a focal point of the fledgling Barossa wine industry from the 1850s and now boasts the world’s longest unbroken chain of vintage wines, going back to 1878, enabling the release of a genuine 100-year-old fortified wine each year since 1978. Apart from the extraordinary range of fortifieds, Seppeltsfield today also produces a range of limited production table wines, including blends of Shiraz, Grenache and Touriga, and sparkling wines under the Gert’s Blend label.
