Crafted from the same varieties, and from the same philosophy as the flagship Ornellaia this is no ordinary second vin. Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia is a stunning wine, a true reflection of the site and season. The grapes for Le Serre Nuove are handpicked before optical selection is utilised for optimal berry selection. Each variety and each vineyard parcel of land is then vinified separately. Upon completion of malolactic conversion the wines are racked into barriques (25% new and 75% one year old). The wine ages in barriques in Ornellaia's temperature-controlled cellars for about 15 months. This elegant wine has an enticing bright ruby-red hue with purple highlights. Refreshing on the nose with pink pepper and cypress berries aromas, evoking memories of the Mediterranean landscape in the height of summer. On the palate, the wine is elegant and refined with a lovely acidity and an enduring and savoury finish.
