ABOUT THE WINERY
Wantirna Estate
Wantirna Estate Vineyard established in 1963, was the first of a new generation of plantings in the Yarra Valley. The first vintage was in 1968. Reg and Maryann Egan make an impressive father and daughter winemaking team. The dry-grown 3.6 hectare vineyard is meticulously managed and planted to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Much of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot plantings are over 40 years old. The wines are named after Reg and Bertina Egan’s granddaughters and the labels with whimsical illustrations by Michael Leunig are meant to depict the sensibilities of each child.
